Our Mission is dedicated to carry on the enduring influence of DJ’s legacy by providing unwavering support and assistance to individuals facing various challenges, including families with sick children, our elderly friends, veterans, and those with disabilities. Our mission is rooted in lessening the burdens of those in need and fostering a community filled with healing, love, and happiness.
Our Vision at DJ’s Hope is to see our non-profit organization thrive and grow in its mission to provide essential programs such as Home Preservation, The Children’s Hospital Backpack Program, and the Visit from a Friend initiative. We envision expanding our programs to reach a wider audience, engaging volunteers, supporters, and donors in our cause that enable us to make a lasting impact in the lives of those we serve. The Programs we Run
Children’s Hospital Backpack Program
When a child is suddenly admitted to the hospital, parents often find themselves unprepared for the stay. Our backpacks, filled with essential items such as hygiene products, blankets, t-shirts, puzzle books, and snacks, help families navigate the initial days of their hospital journey with a bit more ease and comfort.
Home Preservation
Many elderly, veterans, and disabled individuals struggle to maintain their homes. Our Home Preservation program offers assistance with tasks such as painting, landscaping, and minor repairs. This initiative not only helps preserve homes but also revitalizes neighborhoods, fostering a sense of community and pride.
Hopeful Hearts
For those facing economic hardships due to illness, disability, or crisis, our Hopeful Hearts program provides food, housing assistance, and financial aid. We offer gift cards for meals and groceries, cover travel expenses, and meet housing needs to ease the burden during tough times.
A Chance to Play Grant
Sports can be an essential part of a child’s development, but not all families can afford the costs. Our grant program helps children from K-12 participate in sports by covering registration fees and providing necessary equipment. We believe every child should have the chance to play and grow through sports.

Children’s Farewell Fund
The loss of a child is a devastating experience, both emotionally and financially. Our Children’s Farewell Fund provides support during this difficult time, helping families with memorial expenses and offering emotional support from volunteers who understand their grief.
Visit From A Friend Initiative
Loneliness, depression, and anxiety can severely impact one’s well-being. Our volunteers offer companionship to the elderly, veterans, and individuals with developmental disabilities through gentle conversations, walks, or shared meals. This program helps combat isolation and fosters mental health.
The DJ Merriman Scholarship
We provide scholarships to individuals with heart defects, helping them pursue their educational dreams despite their medical challenges.
